Our Wines : 2002 Willamette Valley Pinot Noir

A barrel selection from the Bergstrom, Hyland, Stermer, Lachini and Archery Summit Vineyards, the 2002 Willamette Valley Pinot Noir has a deep dark ruby color with violet hues. This medium to full-bodied pinot noir has a big bright aromatic intensity, blending tart pie-cherries, ripe black-raspberries, menthol, clove and white pepper with a nice touch of toasty french oak-influenced spice and smoke (although no new barrels were used in this cuvee).

The mouthful is generous with a texture of heavy silk and framed with nicely extracted ripe tannin and a generous acid profile. From the most ripe vintage since 1998, the 2002 Willamette Valley Pinot Noir is an enormous wine for an enormous value.

Caution: the 2002 vintage is much larger and more structured than the 2001 vintage, which was drinkable upon release. The 2002 wines will need some time before showing their full potential. Drink: November 2003 through 2013.

Suggested Retail Price: $20.00 per bottle.
